Giving Option
A Giving Option is simply any project or function that you present to donors for donations. It could be your general operating expenses, a new building you are building, a program that needs funding, etc. Each giving option will eventually become its own web page and the selections you make in setting up the giving option will carry through with that donation.
Before you can set up a new giving option, you first have to create some other records that will be needed for the giving option. You need a Fund Code, an Appeal Code, and a Letter. Check out those sections for more information about how to create those codes.
Once you have set up the Funds, Appeals, and Letters, you are ready to set up a Giving Option. Click on the Giving Options tab at the top of the page. This page shows a list of your currrent options, if you have any. Click the Edit button on the right to make changes to a giving option or click Add New Giving Option to create a new one.
Description
Tells us what this Giving Option is about. If you want donors to donate to your General Fund that is what you will enter here.
This is text that can carry over to the donation web page and is the primary way that you will communicate with your donor to explain what this giving option is about. You can format that here or on the web page set up.
Click on Select Files to upload an image that can carry through to the donation page web page. It is separate from your company logo and is an image that represents this giving option. The image will display below in the Current Image field.
The values in this field are your Interest Codes. When a donation is made through the web page using this giving option, the donor will have this interest code assigned to them. You will be able to view each donor's Interest Code on their Name Page and will be able to use this code to contact donors based on that interest.
Enter a dollar amount goal and check the Remove If Met check box if you want the goal amount to disappear from the web page once the goal has been met.
